Yes, I know about ALT + TAB, just put an eject button on the drive okay! How much does a drive activity indicator LED cost, a few pennies? There is a connector to connect an external power supply 5 VDC 1A but no power supply is provided. Its a pain to get to Windows Exploder to do a software eject for installation utilities that want to take over full screen. Frankly, eject and power indicators should be fairly standard especially for a drive that costs this much.

There is no physical eject button or light indicating the product has power. Connectors and cable length being the enemy of fast USB connections. The USB cable is pretty short which I'm guessing they did on purpose to bump transfer speeds up.

Still waiting for writeable Blu Ray disks to arrive to test the write functionality.

The unit is able to read DVD installation disks. Packing damage indicates product was dropped as the internal foam packing was broken and corner of box dented. So with an iMac with USB 3, I won't be using this. This tool is for USB2.0 USB3.0 user doesn't need to install." "The "USB High Speed Driver" is a tool which allows the end user to assist the following BD drives' USB driver's speed. I copied this from the Pioneer site about this unit, regarding the "high speed driver". The BDR-XS06 read DVDs and CDs just like an external Apple optical drive that I had used previously with those kinds of media. I'm pretty happy with the unit so far, but you do have to make some small efforts to install some software in order to use BluRay disks with this device and an iMac. I'll update this when I try for the firmware update that I have read about, which purportedly can provide the higher speeds that the machine is supposed to be capable of. As reported by other reviewers, the device arrives set for a 2X read speed. I down loaded the "Make MKV" and "VLC" programs to use with BlueRay disks, Everything worked well, and the resulting videos look amazing on the 4K display of this iMac, which is the best display I have, any other displays I have being being 1920 X 1080. I was surprised that some other longer USB 3 cables I have, that do work with various hard drives, did not work with this device - so some users may have connectivity issues to overcome. I already had a 24 inch USB 3 extension permanently in one of the iMac ports, so the 12 inch cable that came with the unit was not a problem for me. I've only had this unit for 2 days - so far so good.
